    Blueprints for Mobile Web Applications

Many developers have taken the web route to building mobile applications – from building responsive sites such as the Financial Times to creating AppStore apps via Cordova (PhoneGap). Others have tackled the same challenges using native code.

We're beginning to see some common design patterns emerge from this work. New patterns are also emerging to address the unique challenges of mobile development.

In this session, we'll look at four broad categories of mobile applications and their underlying structures. These lead to blueprints you can use in designing your own applications.

    You'll learn:

  • How to design networked applications for batch updating, sync, and real-time collaboration
  • How to evaluate different server approaches for these applications
  • How to evaluate the scalability options for each kind of application

Experience developing web applications using environments such as PHP, JSP/JSF, Ruby on Rails, or Node is helpful but not required.
